The Friends of Bristol Art Gallery Archive of Minutes and Bulletins was recently transferred to the Records Office.

It is available to be seen by visiting the RO searchroom, and asking for the collection by name, or by the reference number 45560.

The Collection will not appear on the RO’s online catalogue until the next update which is scheduled for September 2015. Even then it will only list the items within the collection, not scans of the actual items themselves.

The Archive starts with a pamphlet pertaining to the formation and aims of the Association in 1947.

By convention there is a 7 year gap before material is added to an Archive ie currently the archives of Executive Committee Meeting Minutes, and Annual General Meeting minutes (which include the Report & Accounts) ends at 2006-2007.

The corresponding minutes for 2007-8 will be added to the Archive in April 2016.

No such convention applies to The Bulletin, and a virtually complete set, up to and including the current May 2015 edition, is available to be seen. Note that the archive also includes newsletters and notices which pre-date the introduction of The Bulletin.

The Bristol Records Office is part of Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives. Contact information and opening hours can be found here.

Anyone can use the searchroom to research the RO’s collections – from local family histories to public records revealing Bristol’s heritage.
